Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 4, 2026

Your files never leave your Mac, and our apps do not track what you do. This policy explains the limited information our website and purchase process handle, why we handle it and the choices you have.

The short version

  • Our apps run on your Mac. They do not send us your files or track what you do.
  • The website collects only what it needs to work and to understand traffic.
  • A payment provider handles purchases. We never see your full card number.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • You can ask to see or delete the information we hold about you.

This summary is here to help you scan. The full policy below is what applies.

01 Our approach to privacy

MacXTools builds native Mac utilities that do their work on your device. Privacy is not a feature we added later. It is how the apps are built.

This policy explains what information we handle when you use our apps and website, why we handle it and the choices you have. It applies to macxtools.com and to the apps we distribute under the MacXTools name.

02 What our apps collect

Our apps process your files locally on your Mac. When an app cleans up space, converts a file or captures the screen, that work happens on your machine. We do not receive your files, and there is no analytics or telemetry reporting what you do inside an app.

The only network request an app makes is an optional check for updates. That check sends the app version and your macOS version so we can offer the right update. You can turn it off in the app's settings. Our apps do not require an account to work.

03 Information you give us

You share information with us directly when you do any of these things.

  • Buy an app. Our payment provider processes your payment and passes us your email and order details.
  • Contact support. We receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
  • Subscribe to updates. We store your email address to send you product news until you unsubscribe.

We use this information only for the purpose you gave it.

04 Information collected automatically

When you visit macxtools.com, our servers and analytics record standard technical information. This includes your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view and the site that referred you.

We use this to keep the site secure, fix problems and understand which pages are useful. It is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.

05 Cookies

We use a small number of cookies. Essential cookies make the site work. Analytics cookies help us count visits and see how the site is used.

You can control or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site from working.

06 How we use information

We use the limited information we hold for a few clear purposes.

  • To deliver the apps, licence keys and receipts you have bought.
  • To provide support and answer your questions.
  • To send product updates you asked for.
  • To keep the website and our services secure.
  • To meet legal and accounting obligations.

We do not use your information for automated decisions that have a legal effect on you.

Our lawful basis (EU and UK users)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on a lawful basis for each use. We process your order details to perform our contract with you. We rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website for analytics and security. We send product updates on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We keep billing records to meet our legal obligations.

07 Payments

Payments are handled by our payment provider. When you buy an app, you enter your card details on their secure checkout. We never see or store your full card number.

Our provider shares with us the details we need to complete your order, such as your email, the app purchased and the amount paid. Their handling of your payment data is covered by their own privacy policy.

08 Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run MacXTools, and only so they can do their work for us.

  • A payment provider to process purchases.
  • An email provider to send receipts and product updates.
  • An analytics provider to measure website traffic.
  • A hosting provider to run the website.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our users or the public. If MacXTools is ever part of a merger or sale, information may transfer as part of that deal, and we will tell you first.

09 How long we keep information

We keep information only as long as we need it. Order and billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Support messages are kept while they are useful for helping you. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.

When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

10 Your privacy rights

You have rights over the personal information we hold. Which rights apply depends on where you live. The main ones are below.

  • Access. See the information we hold about you.
  • Correction. Fix information that is wrong or out of date.
  • Deletion. Ask us to delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law.
  • Restriction. Ask us to limit how we use your information.
  • Portability. Receive a copy in a common, machine-readable format.
  • Objection. Object to certain uses, including direct marketing.
  • Withdraw consent. Where we rely on your consent, withdraw it at any time.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, these rights come from the GDPR. If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you similar rights, plus the right not to be treated differently for using them.

To use any of these rights, email us and we will respond within the time the law allows. You can also complain to your data protection authority, such as your national supervisory authority in the EU or the California Privacy Protection Agency, if you are not satisfied with our response.

We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of there. We also honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track signals sent by your browser.

11 International data transfers

MacXTools works across borders. The providers we use may store or process information in countries other than yours, including the United States and the European Union. When information moves across borders, we rely on safeguards that the law recognises, such as standard contractual clauses.

12 Children's privacy

Our apps and website are not aimed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

13 How we protect your data

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. We keep the amount of information we hold small on purpose, which is the strongest protection of all.

14 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our apps, our providers or the law change. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will make it clear.

15 Contact us

Questions about your privacy or this policy? Email support@macxtools.com or use our contact page. For data protection requests, the MacXTools entity that provides your app or service acts as the data controller.

16 Frequently asked questions

Does MacXTools sell my personal information?

No. We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising. We use a small number of providers only to run MacXTools, such as payments and hosting.

Do MacXTools apps track what I do?

No. The apps process your files on your Mac and do not send telemetry. The only network request is an optional update check, which you can turn off in the app's settings.

What information do you collect when I buy an app?

Our payment provider handles your card details, which we never see. We receive your email, the app you bought and the amount paid, so we can deliver your licence and receipt.

How do I access or delete my data?

Email support@macxtools.com. We will confirm your identity and respond within the time the law allows.

Do you honour Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control?

Yes. We honour GPC and Do Not Track signals from your browser. Because we do not sell data, these signals mainly limit analytics.

This policy works together with our terms of service and refund policy.
